ZORA HAPPIEST I'VE EVER BEEN
Following on from her anticapitalist dance rap debut 'RUNNITUP', Minneapolis rapper and producer ZORA showcases her more introspective side with a deeply personal exploration of mental health difficulties. As with the last single, 'HAPPIEST I'VE EVER BEEN' features a verse from rapper Myia Thornton, however, it has a completely different energy, low tempo with palm muted guitar line that has a pop-punk/emo flavour. The song is a defiant declaration of joy and an example of how music can be used to express yourself and reflect on difficult experiences, after a "jarring mental health scare" ZORA explains how she "used songwriting as a way to cope with my circumstances and speak up about what I had gone through, no matter how intense it was. I wanted to make a song that sounded carefree, fun, and relaxing, accompanied by some of the darkest lyrics you’ve ever heard." ZORA's debut album Z1 is due out in June on Get Better Records (“trans/queer and artist owned/operated. for the queers, by the queers.”) -Toby Evans-Jesra
